New Coach/Rescue Boat
As mentioned last month, our Club has now taken possession of a new coach/rescue boat from Wanganui Boating Centre. This is a replacement for one of our older models which was leaking badly due to wear and tear on the aluminium hull. The engine and controls from the old boat have been installed on the new boat and drivers report that the new design is very stable (which is imperative should rescues be necessary) and boat wash has been minimised. The photo shows our Novices from Whanganui High School preparing to launch for their on water outing.

Boat Drivers
The new craft was put to good use when our Club hosted a boat drivers course last weekend. We congratulate Buck Rogers, Steve Collins, Bruce Osborne, Colin Wright, Darrell Monk, Dave Dudley, Jack Pringle and Lance O'Brien who all passed with flying (floating?) colours and can be added to our arsenal of qualified drivers for coaching and on water regatta
official duties.
Restored Historic Photo
Our second photo is a restored photograph of the Aramoho Boating Club second club house as it looked in 1917. Our current novices would have enjoyed launching an octuple from that ramp! This building survived until mid 1950's and veteran rower, now coach, Pete Smith
recalls it tipping progressively forward toward the river as it became more decrepit. This photograph now has a prominent position in our Oarsman Lounge and the Club commends Whanganui's Renata's Art and Framing for the outstanding restoration work.
